What's that sound

Hey all!

This week's vlog!!!

GOD is so good!

 - Voice actors
Yey, today this can be the first topic! :D
Last week, I took the plunge and sent out a few e-mails asking specific friends I felt fit the roles, if they would be willing to record those roles for the video and I have so far only heard back from one - Pharaoh! Who could it possibly be?! Just have to wait to find out! There has to be some mystery to this project! :D
So I am still waiting to hear back from the rest, but I did miss something quite crucial when I e-mailed them - two possible roles.

 - Aaron and Moses taking turns to speak and the missing persons
When I e-mailed them, I put their names by who I would personally like them to play, but also made it clear they can try for someone else if they felt they would fit that part better (the more natural the better). Like I mentioned just now, I forgot two very important roles:
 - Aaron
 - GOD
Yeah, that's embarrassing! hahaha. Since I only picked a minor part for myself (one of Pharaoh's servants) - to lessen the voice work load and Aaron has only one turn to speak (getting to that), I'll probably be taking on HIS part and Aaron's and editing them a bit to be more booming than my voice naturally is.

Speaking of Aaron though - in the storyboard video, I gave Aaron and Moses at one point speaking turns and this was the only time scripture indicates (from 7-12) that Aaron said anything to Pharaoh directly - apart from where GOD says that Aaron will speak to Pharaoh to let the people go (Exodus 7:2):

"And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me."
Exodus 10:3, KJV

So I better go through the whole thing a time or two more just to make sure I didn't miss any other speaking turns and e-mail the updated version! haha. With something this size, it's so easy to miss something (even when the script is well over 2000 years old)!

 - Noise polution (wow...)
This was a total shock to my system! I went out this week to record some birds for outdoor ambience, but I have never heard so much traffic in my life. The dogs almost didn't stop barking, our security guard came by whistling and the primary school close by just would not be quiet! It was insane! I was so so so so so so frustrated! Yesterday, I noticed a much much calmer atmosphere. The traffic hum was lower and the HOLY SPIRIT reminded me that kindergarten schools have nap time after lunch, so that was when I took my shot (and at other times in the morning, since it was such a quiet day). I also set my phone one morning to get up at 3:45 to make sure I beat the birds' opening song, so I could get that. Only the birds got up about 2 hours later, hahahaha!
Most of the sounds I played you guys, like I said in the video, were recorded at night, because it was certainly the most quiet time of the day and a lot of stuff, like the ambience from yesterday, still needs to be processed. I only got through the early week's recordings. Processing audio takes a lot more effort than I realized and coming up with ways to get certain sounds is just as difficult. There's a reason people who do this for a living are called foley artists! It truly is an art! I watched some videos on this last night and it is astounding! I thought they simply used libraries of pre-recorded sound, but nope, they actually perform the sound effects with the video. With Esther there was little to no foley work to be done, but for this one, we have a lot! This week went to that and the other thing I mentioned in the video!

 - The Something Else

GOD is so brilliant!

I'm very very very very apprehensive about sharing this - being that I cannot commit to completing a 3D version in tandem. I would like to, but I can't promise one, so please please please don't take this as a promise of one, nor telling other people "Oh! He's doing a 3D one too!". I want to, but I can't promise anything - having said that, it shouldn't be an issue as they output from the same projects at the same time (File Output node).

A little over 5 years ago, GOD put it on my heart to start looking for a fast way to do 3D in blender. Primarily, 1 render, but a 3D result. Of course, the only info I had at my disposal was a depth map and it grew from there. I spent years working on this (basically re-inventing the wheel), on and off (mostly off), because I felt I kept hitting dead-ends (with all manner of ghosting and artifacts). Over the past few weeks, HE's been fiery on me about working on it again and so a lot of time went into it and HE not only helped me make it stronger and better, but also supporting the conversion back to 2D. I can honestly say, because of the issues with the old method, that I would not advise that you use the tutorial for it. The newest method is tons better and has better tools, but I have some work still to do on it...

I did some speed tests with this and the best I can do is compare this with motion blur as opposed to vector blur. You could say with Blender's stereoscopic tools, rendering two frames for every one frame is the best method (motion blur) is gives the best result, but, with this method (like vector blur), for me personally, having to only render a single frame a wait a second or two for the node to do it's thing, is worth the lesser sharpness in terms of depth (it's a bit less defined to compensate for other issues).

I have never done a project in stereoscopic 3D, so I cannot promise that this would be like "ooooooh (o.o)", but I really want it to be (using the method to add to the story, not be gimmicky). This is a truly scary venture, but we're taking it on afraid as Joyce puts it, so please keep this, this project and our family in prayer!!!

Remember, this 2D to 3D is not a native feature in Blender, so you won't find it there, but blender has true stereoscopic render tools that are truly truly astounding! If you like 3D, I totally encourage you to check it out here:

GOD is so wonderful!!
You don't have to output to anaglyph. You can check the output settings for various formats.

Biggest thanx to GOD for helping me with this. Without HIM, none of this would be possible! :D
