There is a frog

Hey all!

This week's vlog:

GOD is so great!

 - There is a frog
Haha, finally! We have a frog! Progress people, progress! Small, but still there! Think I'm just plain tired tbh, haha.

Anyhow, I'll get to fixing the rigging this week, GOD willing, and then move on to animating it and then we can get on to chapter 8's more visual production. For the frogs, I would like to record real frogs croaking at night and I know of a location where I can do that, but it'll also have a loooooot of crickets. Might just add to the ambiance, haha.

Now onto the biggest issue of the week

 - The song of Moses
I would really like to use the song of Moses for Exodus. It is like a fully comprehensive pre-written song ripe for the picking that is effectively written by GOD. I want that song for Exodus. When I felt led to go for it, I almost fainted I was so excited! hahaha.

Who wouldn't be at the chance to record a song that is almost 3000 and written by GOD HIMSELF and sung by Moses at the red sea! Come on!!! That is so awesome!!!

Super excited, I started digging online and found basically nothing, hahaha. I kid you not. I found a handful of things so far:
 - Handel's Israel in Egypt (adaptation) (as well as link to free scores)
 - A really terrible recording of a part of the performance pertaining to the song at the sea (which it is also known as).
 - A hilarious post about contemporary artists taking a shot at setting it to music

If I were to do the whole Song at the sea, it would probably be 10-15mins long (phrases are longer sung than read). That is a bit lengthy, but if done well, will certainly be a hit! :D

I still have to check those out in detail, but I felt really strongly led to also ask a friend from the US (also in ministry) whether he knows where I could possibly get the original (he's from a Jewish background and I know it is veeeeeeery long shot, but he would be very likely to know if there is anything). Unfortunately, he didn't know where to look for it. I'm very grateful for his willingness to help though!

Sometimes a lesson is truly in the asking. I don't like asking for things. I'd much rather someone just go like: "Hey! You know I know where you can find that!", but it's rooted in a fear that people could say no or something. The LORD will show me the true root of that issue, but HE's certainly not shy about making me face it, hahaha.

Anyway, as far as the song in Deut 32 (sorry, I said 39 in the video) goes - I'm honestly not led in that direction at the moment. GOD did a momentous and wonderful thing for Israel in delivering them and avenging them, but I don't want that crowned with especially the latter part of the song:

"They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation. Do ye thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?"
Deuteronomy 32:5-6, KJV

It's not the ending that should be there for chapters 7-12 - this is only for later. I also looked at Psalm 90, but it doesn't deal with Exodus directly and it's not about praising GOD for victory. It's a prayer of anguish,

Miriam's song atm kinda wants to be included, kinda not. It's all very vague at this point, haha.

So to summarize, I still need to check out the above links in greater detail (the ones with extra info such as the free scores) and possibly further digging! HE is faithful! Always faithful!

One thing I thought about yesterday was the style of song. I found a video about Miyazaki's movies' music. While I can't watch most of the stuff he makes because of what's in them, I was led to watch the video and it's interesting how similarly, yet different in feel, Japanese music's principles are. It's something we're certainly not very used to in the west. We generally want a strong conclusion to a musical piece (it has to sound like it's done). Debussy, one of the analogies for the video, was a composer that followed very similar practices which made his music kinda float and never really "conclude". I'll be frank here and say that I'm not led to go the Japanese style route on this - though I do find it very interesting and fascinating and far about my music theory level at this point, haha.

A very Hebrew and Egyptian history has to reflect their sound or a completely disassociated sound where culture is not taken into much consideration for musical style. It could be a pop song because it's catchy or it could sound like a piece of congregational singing that the Jews would favor.
Lots to pray about!! haha
Anyhow, that is it for this week's post - I am so thankful for everyone who reads, comments and watches! Thank you!

Biggest thanx to GOD for helping me with this. Without HIM, none of this would be possible! :D
