The almost end of a chapter

Hey all!
This week's vlog!

GOD is so great!

 - Sound work
Almost no sound work for the week. In fact, so little that I don't recall if I actually did any this week, hahaha.

 - Dynamic Plaster
Thankfully, I did get to play with this effect a bit, but did not get far. The problem here is that for hieroglyphics, you want solid colors (no shadows) and that means the effect needs some modification. Of course, you do get exceptions, because someone always wants to be different, but in this case, I want to flatten the image. The issue comes in with how. How do you decide what to flatten and what not. You would have to start with RGB and maybe go in-between those to take it further, but wow... I personally think it needs something like deep learning to be able to isolate a color and it's shades and flatten them. If that gets done, you add the wall texture over it and of course all the other dynamic elements and reduce the frame rate by half (usually half is good enough - between 12fps and 15fps).

I show the result in the video, so you guys are welcome to check that out!

 - Aaron's shot adjusted
A few things were changed with Aaron's shot since the last vlog. In fact, it was rendered twice since. To make this rather easy to follow, I'm going to list what has been changed:
 - Zoomed in (and translated every thing)
 - Color timing and origin point (had to simply be made to originate from the same river)
 - Final animation speed
 - Aaron fades sooner
 - Aaron's 3D is switched to the old method for the sake of ease, because of the layer translation problem. This allows Aaron to sink in, be transparent and have a cool effect on his figurative surroundings.
Pretty much only the zoom parts where redone twice, but the color stuff was only once and it was only to make sure that the timing still fit with the expansion of the blood. If there is any difference from the original, it would be very small. I don't recall how much I adjusted it honestly, hahaha.

 - More hieroglyphics
The thing I like the most about the Exodus is that we're dealing with eyewitness testimony. It means that there are some things that are out of order and that are fairly abstract in terms of film. For example, showing everything that has been changed into blood isn't practical, so you have to create something to represent that - enter hieroglyphs. The same with the 7 days being fulfilled after the LORD had smitten the river. Now, for the latter, it is mostly finished, but I still need to add Egyptians digging for water (not that they found any, because according to the Psalms they could not drink).

For this week though, I only got to a single hieroglyphic shot. It was the turning of the loose vessels' water into blood (almost typed wine, but there is symbolism in that too if you think about the wedding in Cana, the marriage supper of the lamb, HIS blood shed for us and that the wine at communion also represents HIS blood shed for us - water into blood - water into wine). The most fun part was the 3D aspect. I didn't want it to be flat, like the country was (what else would it be). So I felt lead to go for the old method (tested the new one too and found that the initial leading was right) and make the hieroglyphics pop without them having any perspective depth (they are shot orthographically).

When you do it this way, you will run into a problem. Where there is no perspective, there is no mist. Mist will always be as thick as it is - at least in Blender's estimation. Thankfully, the Z pass still functioned, so the depth for the hieroglyphics were calculated using that. It gave a really nice result (showed in the video). Though it is very subtle.

 - Another shot for the week
Another shot, though still rendering, is about Pharaoh just brushing them off and going inside while his heart hardens. This is, so far, the final full-form shot for chapter 7, this the title. So, from where I am right now, chapter 7 reads:

"And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt. And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the LORD had said. And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also. And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river. And seven days were fulfilled, after that the LORD had smitten the river."
Exodus 7:20-25, KJV.

As you can see, a lot of this has been done already. The current shot that is rendering is:
"...and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the LORD had said. And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also."

At which point is switched back to hieroglyphics for:
"And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river. And seven days were fulfilled, after that the LORD had smitten the river."

In the latter part, will also be included:
"And the fish that was in the river died..."

I'm still hazy about how to include:
"...and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river;"

It is extremely difficult to include all these details in some way shape or form, but they have to be. My guess would be to have someone with red hands by the river or something crying, but the problem is not getting excessively creepy or gory with the imagery. If the river is blood, you can't drink it, but GOD felt it needed enough to say that the water (now blood) was undrinkable. Most likely for smell and taste, not to mention the dead fish. It has to be shown some way though... GOD will give me clarity on this in due course - HE always does.

 - Color Adjustment
A while back, I adjusted for the anaglyph color spectrum during the first stand off between Moses and the magicians, where Aaron had to throw down the rod. While I do still feel this does have a purpose, I do know that some people will be viewing through shutterglasses and other full-color 3D methods. So, just to be sure I do cover those methods, I added some hue adjustment modifiers to take it back to that red color from the cloud. Of course, still some minor adjustments for it, but there is now the option of coloring for anaglyph specifically. Kinda double-minded on this and I really don't like it. Will keep this in prayer too.

Anyhow, that is it for this week's post - I am very thankful for everyone who reads, comments and watches! Thank you!

Biggest thanx to GOD for helping me with this. Without HIM, none of this would be possible! :D
