The almost end of a chapter

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, November 2, 2017, In : WIP
Hey all!
This week's vlog!

GOD is so great!

 - Sound work
Almost no sound work for the week. In fact, so little that I don't recall if I actually did any this week, hahaha.

 - Dynamic Plaster
Thankfully, I did get to play with this effect a bit, but did not get far. The problem here is that for hieroglyphics, you want solid colors (no shadows) and that means the effect needs some modification. Of course, you do get exceptions, because someone always wants to be different, but in this case, I...

Sound off

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, October 19, 2017, In : WIP
Hey all!
This week's vlog!

GOD is so great!
Oh, pardon the scratchy sound. I'm not sure whether the interference is coming from, but will look into it, GOD willing!

  - Sound work
Last week I talked about sound work at the end of the post and pretty much not at all in the video, but over the weekend I got to spend a lot of time on not just recording sound, but adding sound to the project. In fact, here is a list:
 - Spatter contact (same as next)
 - Water hitting pavement (works for concrete too...

3D Switch

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, October 12, 2017, In : WIP
Hey all!
This week's vlog!

GOD is so great!

  - 3D methods come together
Last week I got to share with you guys how GOD gave me a new 3D method that gives supremely sharp results. Of course, it still has a few catches, but it certainly produces! Anyway, this week I saw for the first time that GOD knew I needed it, before I knew I needed it (nothing new there, hahaha).
The shot where the magicians face the camera needed to be sharp in order to get a sense of space. Yes, they do kinda look li...

3D on YouTube

Hey all!
This week's vlog!

GOD is so cool!!!

  - Posting 3D content from Blender on YouTube (Tutorial video)
Last week I mentioned that I would like to do a video on this very tricky and prickly topic and included a lot of technical info on it in the post itself:
http://bibleanimations.yolasite.com/blog/a-single-shot

I recommend that if you are someone interested in uploading Stereoscopic 3D (Side-By-Side), it is certainly worth checking out!

Note: For some reason it does not want to display 3D ...

A Single Shot

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, September 21, 2017, In : WIP
Hey all!
This week's vlog!

GOD is beyond words!!! Just wow!!

  - Posting 3D content from Blender on YouTube (requires a middle step)
This has been a very sore point of contention for me! Wow! I never knew that something so simple could frustrate me to such an extent! I believe the reason it frustrated me so has to do with the call on this project. When you're called to sing and you have to sit in a workshop fixing watches or be in a law firm, you will be so down and so irritated (or just plai...

Color grading and process

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, September 14, 2017, In : WIP
Hey all!
This week's vlog!

GOD is so great!

  - Color Grading
I watched an amazing presentation on color grading a while back. An absolutely brilliant colorist spoke about using various equipment to color grade and how you can actually grade something with much much higher accuracy if you look first at the equipment and know what you're going for. It kinda works like a read-out that shows you where everything is at and how strong everything is and where there is room for improvement. You coul...

Week of testing

Hey all!
This week's vlog!

GOD is just wow!!

  - Anime Metal
Without a doubt one of the hardest materials to produce for a flat shaded look, I really learned a lot about the approach to metal in anime and the results are super surprising!
Shockingly, in most cases, you were just looking at the equivalent of a diffuse shader or even more alarming, a shadeless one! In almost every situation from the 80's, you would find that metal is purely metal, because it is metal - often times, at the most...

Moving into chapter 8

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, March 2, 2017, In : WIP
Hey all!

This week's vlog!!

GOD is so awesome!!

 - Very little time this week
I had an amazing week. I got to go visit my cousin over the weekend and got to some much needed garden and house work, so this week, I literally had only 1 afternoon and an evening, haha. GOD made it such a productive afternoon - it was just amazing! I still felt pulled to procrastinate, but it was much less than usual.

 - A stinging experience
Also got stung by bees for the first time, haha. I was mowing the lawn and ...

Normal editing

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, December 8, 2016, In : WIP
Hey all!

This week's vlog!

GOD is soooo good!!

 - Normal editing
Now, this is a bit of a topic for me that I really try to avoid, as it's editing is really not as straight forward as I would like it to be, but it certainly not a bad thing. It really enables you to create stylistic inaccuracy while still being well able to move lights and all sorts of other scene objects and still get the right look. In regards to trees, I've wanted that painted and layered look for a while and this is, I believe,...

About Me

Marius Oberholster Hey all! I've been doing CG work full-time since 2011. GOD has been with me, supported me and taught me all the way. HE tells us to do all things as unto the LORD and that is my goal. I do whatever I believe the HOLY SPIRIT is leading me to do and it's not always easy, but it's always worth it to be obedient! JESUS is awesome!! If you don't know HIM yet, follow the link above!
