Israelites all over

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, February 2, 2017, In : WIP
Hey all!

This week's vlog:

GOD is so amazing!!!

As you guys can see, the focus this week was on characters - extras to be exact! I'm almost finished with them to the point where I can add them to the environment, but I still have a few characters to make single objects.

Definitely a lot of work went into these characters or extras, but just to give you guys a bit more info on how to approach characters, I want to list a few things:

Chamberlains from Esther 6 - All the same base character (second r...

Citizens afloat

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, January 19, 2017, In : WIP
Hey all!

This week's vlog!

GOD is super awesome!

- Same day
Some of you may remember on the previous video, that the aim was to finish the characters and add them to the city the same day. Yeah, I really underestimated the amount of work that was left to get them ready for that, haha. Some of the characters didn't have expressions. I had to see whether the shapekeys were maintained as they were made single objects. I had surprises from modifiers. Goodness, there was a lot of challenges this we...

Make dem clothes

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, January 5, 2017, In : WIP
Hey all!

This week's vlog!

GOD is so cool!!

 - Clothing
I am stunned that I have never actually shown you guys how GOD has taught me to create the clothing! HE gave me this method on my second video called Esther 6, which you can watch here:

GOD is soooooooooooo amazing!

For that project, I needed to make quite a few outfits, but thankfully, most of the characters wore similar clothing - like the puffy pants for example. Just like Haman. Anyway, here is a render time lapse of one of the chamberl...

Characters galore

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, October 20, 2016, In : WIP
Hey all!

Today's vlog maybe? hahaha

GOD is so wonderful!!

What a productive week this has been! I am so thankful for what got done!! I just want GOD to give me such speed that it would make my head spin, haha.

 - Characters
In the previous vlog, I spoke about adding more variety to certain characters. In the beginning of the week, I was able to edit them quite a bit more. I'm not 100% satisfied with 1 of them (or say 1 out of 2, as in one of the two needs to be changed), because they still look...

Pharaoh joins the cast

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, September 15, 2016, In : WIP
Hey all!

Here is this week's vlog:

GOD is so amazing!!!

- MHX2:
I had no idea that MHX2 would add support for the IK rig. I was just browsing through the Make Human Community forum, looking to see if my tutorials were being used and later also for new tutorials that would prove useful and this one by Joel is certainly very useful! Just installed it while the vlog was uploading, and I am definitely more interested in using it than before. Before I thought that it would be kinda pointless, seeing a...

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, In : News
Hey all!

In the last post, I got to share with you guys the finished Esther 6 video (wow, GOD is awesome!) and I hope you guys enjoyed it!

Now, of course, there are people reading this, that are curious about how to make these things in the first place. As GOD would have it, HE arranged for me to write a post on the official Make Human community website so you can get a very good scope of what goes into a short and specifically, characters from Make Human!

Check it out!

Esther 6 finished!!!

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, April 14, 2016, In : General
Hey all!

A lot went into making this video and I am so thankful I was commanded to make it.

When GOD first told me HE wanted me to make this, I was really, strongly, resistant to the idea. If you've known GOD for some time, you will know that the message doesn't change. HE wanted me to do it and I submitted and oh am I glad I did! This was around the end of November of last year.

Production felt like it took forever, but all the things HE's taught me and allowed me to share with you guys, has be...

Susa time

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, April 7, 2016, In : WIP
Hey all!!

That time of the week again and this week, I actually get to show you the city in motion. Last week I only got to show you some images (was still rendering at the time).

Before we get to the final video for the week, I would like to talk about what went into it.

- Sound effects
Crowd Sounds
Now, this is nothing new, as you guys have all heard the tap on the table, Haman's feet and so on, but this specific week presented me with a challenge I initially felt overwhelmed by - Crowds!

Of c...

Susa

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, March 31, 2016, In : WIP
Hey all!

I gotta say, if GOD weren't as adamant about me getting to work this week, I would not have a post for you, hahaha. My mom hurt her wrist this week and I had to help extra around the house. Still do. Please pray for her healing and that it will be speedy! :D

Now, onto the post!

- Clouds
As many of you know, GOD was so gracious to let me make a cloud tutorial last week. What you'll see in today's post is the reason for it. Because of all my drama with the clouds, I didn't get much of the ...

The king himself

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, In : WIP
Hey all!

I know usually I post on a Thursday, but I was super excited about the progress, so I just had to share it today!! :D

Now, the title is a surprise - yes, the king is finally modeled! Yey!!! :D
Can someone say progress? Oh yes!

 - The king has been modeled
Here is what he looks like in Make Human:

This is what he looks like in Blender after quite a few tweaks:

Tweaks here involved applying the Make Human to anime tutorial stuff, as well as a few new tips GOD showed me that I want to make tut...

Compositing in order WIP

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, In : WIP
Good day everyone!

Today is nothing super fancy. I just get to share an update on Mordecai and Haman going through the city street. In this case, I stuck pillars in, so there would be something casting shadows on them too (you can see it on Mordecai's shoulder). The goal is to go for unusual contrast and a painterly look. I like the result though.

Still a long way to go

For more info on this particular method of compositing smooth shadows with toon shading, check out my tutorial for Blender Rend...

Mordecai's ride

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Monday, January 11, 2016, In : WIP
Hey all!!

After so much work, it's hard to see him finally on the horse, but immensely satisfying. GOD is awesome!!! :D

He looks great and he looks like he's having a blast - which is what I believe it should look like. It was an honor GOD bestowed on him as part of his vindication from the hands of Haman.

There are still a few things to fix here - such as the horse's front legs' weight painting. The bones specifically. The cloth below the saddle doesn't have strong enough weights, so when the s...

Haman progress

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, December 31, 2015, In : General
Hey all!

On the last day of 2015, I would like to share the progress on one of the characters for Esther 6; Haman! While he is an evil character, I wanted him to be able to look very trustworthy and at the same time quite shifty, because of his ambition.
Trustworthy because the king trusted his advice and shifty, because his ego was the cause of his downfall through all his schemes against Mordecai.

So, here are some of the progress shots for Haman the Agagite:

Before shape changes

Lookin' sharp

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Saturday, December 19, 2015, In : WIP
Hey all!

Just gotta share this with you guys - Mordecai looks sharp in the king's clothes!

(I think this looks so cool! GOD is such an awesome designer!!!!!!)

This was done using Make Human and Blender and a lot of work! GOD lead me a different way with his outfit than the master painters of old did, but I'm glad HE did, because to me this looks soooooooooo cool!

Have a great one and GOD bless!!

Mordecai Progress

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Thursday, December 17, 2015, In : WIP
Hey all!

Today, despite Esther 6 not being done yet, I felt lead to publish the site, so I hope that you are still blessed by what you see here.

Today, with this publishing, I also feel lead to share with you the progress on Mordecai. In Esther 6, you only see him once and that is when Haaman has to parade him in a display of honor through the streets, so he has to look fancy. I may change the head dress to be more fancy, but in general, this is the kind the jews apparently wore, called a mookl...
