Hey all!
I'm still on pharaoh's room and while most of it is organized and set to receive some frogs, including Pharaoh, I am still at a bit of a loss as to what to do with the open area left. You could say his room is "half full" hehehe.
So, on that note, let's focus on something that is finished and that is Pharaoh's hand mirror. Now, they didn't have mirrors like we do today and I did some extra digging:
The originals look a bit different, but have a similar idea - I want similarity within the scenes, so the handle is literally derived from the pillars in the throne room, just like some original handles were - very similar designs, but with further engravings.
For reference, this was a Royal Butler's mirror:
This to me suggests that Pharaoh's will not be far off, except that slightly fancier materials may have been used (modern assumption) - more gold and perhaps turquoise and jasper (common in Egyptian jewelry for example).
I have a toon version here too, because Pharaoh may or may not use it as a swatting implement. When you have various insects and/or frogs in your grill (lol) you will most certainly be waving something.
Back on his bedroom design. Some layouts at museums suggest that he would've had a largely open space, with very little furniture. The prince of Egypt suggests something more modern (lots of things, but open) and the same can be said for the tombs and how full they are upon excavation. A lot of conjecture to be sure, lol.
I added a Pharaoh's cartouche (method of writing names in a little frame) to the mirror handle. According to the doccie Patterns of Evidence - Exodus (amazing doccie btw), the Exodus took place around the middle kingdom era, which means that it might have been Mentuhotep II. Might as well have not been, I don't know, LOL. It's a period of roughly 300 years (2050 BC ~ 1710 BC). I chose him because he was one of the kings I could find a cartouche for. There was a vertical cartouche (linked below, Abydos), but I find it a little short.
I Hope you all had a merry Christmas and that 2020 will be a phenomenal year in your walk with the LORD - let that soul prosper!
Remember:
"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."
3 John 1:2, KJV.
Have a super day!
GOD bless you! (^^,)
