Sketching a story

Hey all!

This week's vlog!!!

GOD is super awesome!!! Very very productive week!!

 - Story boarding
I'm the kinda person that wants to just jump in and do it, but even for Esther I didn't do that. I did for Genesis and I believe that's why it wasn't visually as strong as these are so far. Just do storyboards. If you are making anything you want to have a coherent flow to it, you really need to plan the shots out. Take it from someone who wanted to skip it! It really helps to see it on paper! Plus, it also drastically reduces render times and enables you to be open to more and more ideas GOD has available for you. It's sort of like a digging expedition in search of treasure, with a guarantee to find something! :D

 - Research

Oh snap, did this really take a while! The goal was to get context for chapters 7-12, so that when a viewer watches it, they know it's already moving and they can quickly catch up on what is going on. Plus, it also allows it to flow more seamlessly when the other parts preceding and proceeding it are done. I think I came to the store cities and the reading slowed to a crawl, because of research, because then I found more information elsewhere in scripture about what went on in Egypt in the course of that year.

 - Extra details elsewhere
Places like Psalm 78 (especially wow), Psalm 105, Hebrews 11 and 2 Timothy 3 are invaluable sources for things not recorded with the other events that surrounded them (in this case, Exodus). These chapters contain little extra pieces of information that were not mentioned. For example, in Psalm 78, it talks about diverse kinds of flies that GOD let loose over Egypt, but I don't recall diverse kinds ever being mentioned in Exodus - unless you combine the gnats and the flies. There's also nothing mentioned about the fig sycomores that were destroyed by "frost" during the hale and rain plague. About a whole day was spent just on going through scripture references of Egypt, looking for more information about the plagues. Psalm 78 is often mentioned, because it is the one chapter that gives the most additional information not mentioned. Psalm 105 echoes Psalm 78 and Hebrews add different information about Moses' character and why he made certain choices and 2 Timothy 3, though sparse, prompts research into who they are. A friend from the ministry mentioned them and I thought he was kidding (he didn't add scripture) and I was like: "I don't think they were Spanish" hahaha. See, I had read that verse before, but dismissed it, because I didn't know who they were. GOD expects us to study HIS Word, not just read it, so HE actually expected me to go find out who they were and I didn't. Now I know they were famous and high-ranking Egyptian magicians by the sources I had access to. What happens post-Exodus is where opinions differ sharply.

My point is, if you study scripture, don't think where you read is the only information about what you're reading. There are many referrals about many things. For example, in all of the Israelites' complaining, I also found out what other produce Egypt had! Not to mention correlations through-out scripture, like the plagues in Egypt and the plagues in Revelation and the reasons behind them. For example, in Ezekiel, GOD gives us insight as to why the Israelites also got some of the plagues: " Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt. Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness." Ezekiel 20:7-10, KJV.

 - Coloring
Finally, when the research was done and I finally had some context, I felt ready and lead to start tackling the screenplay. While I've only done ch7 so far, I do feel that ch7 needs some modifications for the sake of having dialogue. It will still run exactly as scripture is written (no words will be added), but when it (or should be) is Pharaoh or Moses, or Aaron or whoever speaking, they will be doing the speaking. Small modification that already applies at the end of 7, I just need to work it back a bit and see how it sounds. Saw that during the recording of the vlog... Thankfully very early in the process! GOD is so good!!!

 - Progress
So progress is on the mark where Moses and Aaron are about to take action through GOD, because Pharaoh would not let the people go. In other words, right before Aaron strikes the Nile and stretches out his hands to make all of Egypt's water turn to blood. Even up to there needs some editing, so we'll see what GOD does this week!

Biggest thanx to GOD for helping me with this. Without HIM, none of this would be possible! :D
