Hey all!

This week's vlog!!

GOD is so great!

 - Dangers and Benefits of 3D
This week I feel like I'm a bit of a "boy who cried wolf" situation. I've done a little digging on the adverse effects of watching 3D and I found some websites swooning over it and they have not cautions, except that the same precautions be taken as with 2D (things like photosensitive epilepsy, not having the screen too bright, etc.). I have been working on this method for years and I have to be honest, I have experienced a greater level of fatigue than normal 2D viewing. Yes, I do wear glasses in general and testing 3D does give you some really crazy results before you get to fine tuning, but it was extremely fatiguing (anaglyph here, not polarized).
I do believe that there is precedent for what I am talking about:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1271618/How-watching-3D-films-bad-brain.html

It's hardly bad for your brain (bit of a click-bait title for sure), but if the shutter glasses with high speed flashing and seriously strong effect can cause some people to black out, it is certainly worth dialing back a bit, imo. The article specifically mentions children and their eye separation. When you're going to the cinema, you are getting a similar feeling as a toddler before a big flat screen at home. Do exercise caution and don't make 3D your normal viewing until it becomes just as standard as 2D viewing and without the need for glasses or super high brightness and contrast levels. If you feel any kind of fatigue that is more than just 2D viewing or if your vision takes long to adjust to 3D and re-adjust after, the longer you watch, take more breaks, put down the glasses or try a different method of viewing (there are other options in just the anaglyph, polarized and glasses-less category - all of which use standard frame rates and no flashing).

Also, be aware that 2D to 3D conversion on the fly, can also cause more strain, because your brain tries to compensate for missing information and tries to make sense of what's missing:
https://www.technologyreview.com/s/418319/is-3d-bad-for-you/
Programs like YUVSoft's 2D to 3D Suite has some amazing amazing amazing tools that compensate for these inaccuracies, but again, not flawless and the MIT article talks about on-the-fly conversion.

Remember though - I am not knocking 3D and neither is Josh or MIT, but I do feel that the warning is legit enough to take seriously.

There are also amazing benefits that have come with 3D, such as diagnosing eye problems a lot easier and quicker too!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_effects_of_3D
http://www.3deyehealth.org/

Interestingly enough, when the optometrists came to our school when I was in grade 2 or 3, they had this book with circles and gave me some glasses to put over my existing glasses and expected me to point out which circles were 3D - I'm very honest, none of them really looked 3D to me, haha. I have no problem watching 3D, in fact, I luv it, but my eyes get used to it and I focus on the story. My fav part of watching 3D these days is looking at the fringes and edges of objects to see if the professionals also struggle with all manner of artifacts - so far, clean as a whistle! hahaha.

 - Sound Editing
This week the sound editing was quite the task. Personally, I also felt like I hadn't yet gotten all the sounds I could before animation. So, of course, that meant going outside again this week, but also sitting down and working through it all.

I edit all my audio in Blender and Audacity. Primarily Audacity, since it can take all manner of plug-ins and so on. The one thing that is used most that I feel I really can't do without, is noise reduction. I hate it and luv it at the same time, because often you want something "simple" removed, but it degrades the sound so much that it feels unusable.

You definitely don't want to try to have to fix everything after the fact. Make sure that what you're getting is almost good enough just to pass on like that - that's your goal when you go for recording. That way, the editing afterward is so minimal that it goes quick.

Unfortunately, noise pollution is a much bigger issue than we realize. Not one to hammer on this, I'm simply going to leave a link to an article about it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noise_pollution

Not saying we should go overboard, but I do think it's something to consider. I've experienced this disturbance first-hand, like I mentioned last week, in trying to get the most basic of bird sounds. There was so much traffic noise in just ambience, that most of the bird sounds I had recorded were practically useless - even recordings in the night contained traffic noise! hahaha.

I did not give up and GOD certainly came through in that HE showed me that I was using the noise reduction plugin ineffectively (it was cutting too hard) and that some of the files were actually fairly clean - apart from some ambient noise under loud chirping.

The goal is to have each sound be clean and separate, so you can layer it - just like in compositing. You want everything to fit, and traffic noise does not fit into ancient Egypt, hahaha.

 - Sound Collecting - more than foley
I'm not quite done yet, because I still have a list of things that need recording:
 - Ibis
 - Barefoot walking on tiles (Egyptians were often bare foot if you look at hieroglyphics)
 - Leaves rustling
 - Wind blowing heavily
 - Thunder and lightning (actually two very different sounds)
 - Rain
 - Heavy fire
 - Frogs
 - Flies
 - Horses
 - Chariots
 - Livestock (sheep, goats, cattle, chickens, etc.)
 - Boat wood creaking
 - etc.

There is such a long list of sounds - most of which are actually quite domestic. The reason it's labeled as more than foley, is because a lot of the foley artists themselves, limit foley to sounds you can perform on a sound stage, such as footsteps, door creeks, car doors, sword slashes and rings, whooshes, birds flapping, car tire screeching, etc. Many times elemental sounds like thunder and lighting are excluded as well as gun shots, explosions, industrial things, car engine and even most animal noises (as in barking, meowing, etc.) - things you can't just produce using props or your voice are excluded from Foley in general.
Here is an article on it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foley_(filmmaking)

There are some amazing tricks to creating sounds we would never even think got performed by foley artists - which to them means they've done their job right! :D

 - New intro
I really felt that GOD wanted me to stick with the whole hieroglyphic wall thing, but with a small twist - it moves with fire-pots in front of it to add to the scale. While it doesn't feel as majestic as I would've liked (the 3D didn't cooperate with such fine details), I certainly like it a lot more than the previous one - simple but better imo! :D
I showed you guys the framing of the new intro. I want at least some of the production to remain a surprise until the end!

 - The edit has started
This was something that actually scared me. I sent a message to a friend online later in the day: #thisjustgotreal, hahahaha.
Not that it hasn't been, but there's a difference between seeing the final production steps and drawing stick figures and using morphed TTS for scratch voices. It's like it suddenly dawns on you that you now have about 30mins worth of footage to produce out of practically thin air using the tools at your disposal. Not that it's on the same level, but I think a lot of mom and dads also experience this sort of thing at various stages. When they first realize that they are going to be responsible for another human being that can't help themself, it hits you and it hits you like a truck load of responsibility! hahaha.

I can honestly say, I know a little bit of how that feels, so if you are experiencing that, you can know, if you know JESUS, you are equal and more than any task that comes your way, that is yours to do.

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Philippians 4:13, KJV

If things got real for you - you are certainly not alone and it's not as horrifyingly hard as it appears to be. GOD will help you deal with it one step at a time if you call on HIM and follow HIM.

 - Aaron and GOD's speaking turns
So I went back to check out the speaking turns and found that indeed, like I mentioned last week, that Aaron had one speaking turn. There is another, but because of the way GOD phrased it, it will be GOD's voice and not Aaron's, though his mouth may be moving in sync (we'll see) - it's the section on the Passover practices.

GOD on the other hand, has a lot to say in this video and it was quite a challenge to articulate some of it. In the KJV you often have really long sentences with lots of "and"s in. This means that you have to kinda pause and just remember where you are at and what you were talking about. It's a really big challenge to articulate well. I have asked GOD to inhabit and authoritate (I really don't mean authorize, I mean establish his authority in the performance, dwell in it and carry it - not just approve it) the role so that no matter what it sounds like, people will go: "That's GOD!"
This draws back to a previous section: "Whoah... This just got real!"

 - Something odd-sounding, but very very important
GOD showed me that that is one of the most important parts of it being as historically accurate as I can possibly make it - it truly has to sink in that these people were really there, they were in bondage and GOD delivered them in a huge way - after dealing with their sin in a huge way:

"Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt. Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness."
Ezekiel 20:7-10, KJV

 - I wrote more about digging through scripture here:
http://bibleanimations.yolasite.com/blog/sketching-a-story

These details, seemingly separated to unrelated, definitely help you understand things better. Knowing HIM also makes a big difference.

Listen to this phrase for a second:

"And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD."
Exodus 10:2, KJV

Pay very close attention to the last part: "that ye may know how that I am the LORD."
Since I've talked about the specificity of the KJV before and why it's so stunningly accurate, that "how" is there for a reason. If you look at the Hebrew, at least from my limited understanding of it, you can see that the phrase is ended with emphasis and a preposition-conjunction combo that was used to state that because of what preceded they will know HE is the LORD. To phrase it the way they did is actually spot on - even though it sounds odd.
You can check it out here:
http://www.studylight.org/desk/interlinear.cgi?search_form_type=interlinear&q1=Exodus+10%3A2&ot=bhs&nt=wh&s=0&t3=str_kjv&ns=0

I also had a problem with understanding this sort of thing, because I was never taught in Sunday School that GOD is not just in charge because HE feels like it - HE actually has the might to back it up. HE made it, HE can certainly deal with it. Yes, we were taught HE's almighty, but when you're 5, you honestly don't know what that means. You just think it means you can fly if you want to, hahaha, or you can fix anything or you're super strong. For some reason, we often never connect the dots that GOD is not just "almighty" as an empty phrase we hear, but HE is not a push over in any sense of the word. If you try to go against GOD, you will lose every single time. Even if it looks like we're getting by with something or someone else may be, every one, and I mean every one, will face HIM on judgement day and there is nothing and no one that can stop it. That's not to scare you, it's to drive home the point that GOD is GOD, because HE is GOD - HE backs up HIS authority with power and HE cannot be stopped by anyone or anything and HE actively demonstrates it.

"I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee."
Job 42:2, KJV

I can't even recall how many times I've tried to go against something HE wanted and came in last. When HE insists, that't it and that's how it will be - check out the fire tutorial section below for another example.

I've had the honor of HIM allowing me to experience a smidge of HIS presence (and this with no physical manifestations like smoke or anything) and it was so overwhelming I just responded in reaction like Peter:

"When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord."
Luke 5:8, KJV

I didn't say those words, but HIS presence was so huge and so strong. Once you experience it, you know that you know - GOD is GOD and there truly is no other. HE really IS. The Israelites would have experienced this in the plagues that came down and the separation between them and the Egyptians so that they would know "how that I am the LORD."

HE truly is!

 - New Tutorial - For Anime - Text on fire
For the sake of ease, here it is - but the text below is far more interesting!

GOD is so amazing!

This week, GOD insisted on me doing a new tutorial. Mvr Blaze asked for it on YouTube, but wasn't very specific. He just said:
"canu make cartoon fire text tutorial...
I have seen ur electricity effect that was awesome
please make fire tutorial..."

After I was a bit baffled by that, I asked if he would clarify and he said:
"I mean (can u make fire text effect in anime style.....)please....
sorry for trouble and my language..."

Finally, I got that he wanted text on fire. I wasn't sure whether he wanted text, though looking back, that's exactly what he asked, hahaha. I just wasn't sure if it was a typo for "next". Anyway, I worked on it over two days and GOD led me the way of using the smoke simulator and it turned out amazingly well! As an aside, I really enjoy what I do and I luv what I do, but I am really honest - I did not want to do a tutorial this week and certainly not one that came in two parts (Blender Render and Cycles). I wanted to rest or work on Exodus, haha, but HE insisted (without force - HE's a total total gentleman) and I finished the recording on Friday, Edited Saturday and the upload crossed over into Sunday. I just did the method as I felt HE showed me the fire should go and what looked visually interesting and I got this comment from Alimayo a few days after upload:
"You keep doing it. I was literally for most of last week trying to figure out how to do this. Then this tutorial pops up. Very strange. I was literally working on text on fire. This very coo :D
Thank you."

This has happened on previous videos where people would be struggling with something and trying to figure it out and the next day, GOD timed the tutorial to be there.
This has happened with Make Human to Anime, the eye fix and this one, 3 videos just off the top of my head here. This does not even include times where people were super frustrated in trying to figure something out for a while, only to come across a video, like the Toon Shading in Cycles one for example.
GOD knows what we need before we do and truly goes ahead to meet the need before we even get to say it - and I get to be a part of that!!! This is truly about lifting HIS Name high!

"And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."
Isaiah 65:24, KJV

GOD is GOD, because HE is the author, the sustainer and the judge of everything - no one, and I mean no one, can stop HIM and no one should either - there is no one better for the job! Do you know JESUS yet?
