Broken legs

Hey all!
This week's vlog!

GOD is beyond words!!! Just wow!!
 - Broken legs?!
I am happy to say that I am not talking about my own legs here, haha. Whenever the frogs jumped in the floor footage, their IK's would lag behind and because of overall rotation, the legs would break and unbreak with every jump. This week I'm aiming to fix it, because just after the recording, GOD gave me the solution and I edited it in. So keep an eye out for that!

 - Shot finally done and wow!
For the last few weeks I have been working on what I think of as the most epic shot of the movie so far - the frogs in the floor illustration and wow is it cool! I luv luv luv what GOD has done here! I just, like I mentioned, have to fix the frogs. I look forward to it! Thankfully I don't have to re-render the whole thing - just from where the frogs show for the first time (plus a little buffer in case it's a little different with them working right and all).

Basically this would be the third time it required a re-render. The first time was because of the really overly intense 3D. "Ouch!" screamed my eyes, hahaha. It was so unconfortable to look at. Wow... Thankfully, that sorted, I re-rendered the shot and excluded the frog jump transition (will probably use it later - GOD willing). And now, after fixing the legs, we'll see another re-render. Thankfully, GOD has shown me that it is definitely worth doing it in 2 layers:
1) 2D+Depth
3) 3D (from 2D+Depth)

This means that overall, the render time is much less. For the 2D alone, it takes a few seconds. The 3D by itself takes roughly 7-12. Together, they took roughly 30-45 seconds. Apart, about 20 at the most. That is a big difference if you multiply it by over 1000 frames! Definitely worth the time made up!

Thankfully the compositor will also get a makeover with 2.8, so yay! haha.
GOD is good!

 - NPR Shader proposal and v3
NPR proposal! I am so thankful GOD helped me with this. It was sooooooo much work to make it. In fact, it was actually not written originally in the same format. It started out with a bit of an entitled attitude and I hated that. With that removed, Wasili strongly suggested I rewrite some of it to also address some of the push back against an NPR shader and the work that goes along with it. I asked the LORD for permission and HE allowed me to go look for some how-to's on how to write really great proposals and I found a great one in WikiHow:
https://www.wikihow.com/Write-a-Proposal

Of course, mine does not resemble what they did all that much, but they made some strong points I felt needed to be taken on board to make a strong case - and of course address the push backs that Wasili stated. So I re-wrote it and oh did it come out awesome!! GOD is so amazing!! I didn't even intend to open up with something comical!

We did hit a snag though. After sending it to Wasili and he was happy, I asked the LORD if I could post it and HE said no. I was like: "WHY NOT?....." hahaha. Not a single word. So I waited a bit and later that night Wasili and I spoke and especially about the angle - no toon shaders in 2.8 - I felt the LORD wanted me to fact check a little so I downloaded the latest build and there it was, glaring at me, the toon shader was still there in Cycles. Totally had the rug pulled out from under us, but so grateful GOD said no! hahaha.

I did not re-write it immediately, because I was working on the frogs and such and the next day, I had time while it was rendering and I modified the angle - finally good! Wasili approved it and yesterday, after all the logistics behind it, it was put up - with quite a bit of a struggle. I am not used to MarkDown, haha. I really do like the idea of it though!

As much as I feel it is a bit redundant after posting the proposal, the LORD wants me to finish and upload package v3 of the shaders (just an adjustment on the sharpness setting sensitivity and the replacement of the second colorramp in both the anisotropic shaders). All of this includes new node maps and and and. So it is a lot of work for a small update, but for it to be truly finished, I know I have to do it - just didn't feel like it tbh, haha. So that is also planned for the week.

 - No frog transition
It just didn't really fit. The more I look at it, the more I feel comfortable with it, but the problem is that I had a knee-jerk reaction to it in the first place. That means the audience will too on first watch. I don't want that when I go watch a movie - cringe at transitions! hahaha. Not going to make anyone else either. It had to go. It may work for a different part of the movie and if it does, I can add it there.

Thank you to everyone who reads, comments and watches!
Biggest thanx to GOD for helping me with this. Without HIM, none of this would be possible! :D
