An open floor

Hey all!
This week's vlog!

GOD is beyond words!!! Just wow!!

 - Eevee toon shader update
I am happy to say that I didn't even touch these this week. I did however find a problem with the documentation page. It kept breaking and I didn't know why until GOD showed me something very interesting. I started looking at the formatting and the images and as I scrolled down the page, I saw that the one image was broken halfway down - the brownish anisotropic toon shader example. The moment I removed the optimization, it worked perfectly and the page hasn't broken again! GOD is so great!!

So, if you haven't yet checked out the documentation page, today is your day:

 - The shot for the week
Last week I spoke about the visual dilemma that comes with long speeches. Moses' speech isn't boring - just very specific. GOD gave me the idea of using visual aid (very early in the process) and the difference it makes to the shot is huge! The movement and the visual information has to be consistent with what is being said, or you'll only remember the visuals and not the words. I want the WORD of GOD emphasized, not fancy compositing.

I know GOD wants the shot this way, with the floor dissolving, so I know HE'll also give me the frog shot I need to make the right impact. I sooooo look forward to the completed shot!

 - Setting up for 3D
This was a massive challenge for me personally! I totally encourage you to check out the video on this section! When GOD gave me the idea to make the floor the center, it all just worked! Thank YOU LORD!

I initially wanted to try one of the newer 3D methods, but honestly, for the high contrast and low detail of the throne room, it doesn't work very well. Those outlines scream against the distortions... The original 3D node was the one HE wanted me to use and I cannot emphasize how much I luv the result!

It's very important to remember how the shot is going to flow, because throughout every 3D shot, the depth may change. I will strongly caution against sudden changes in depth! It really messes with your audience's vision and head. I don't like viewing it and I don't like making it. I only had that happen with Pharaoh's heart hardening (there it has a shock value purpose - it's what your eyes do when you're shocked), but even that I'm not super keen on. If you do 3D and there are depth changes needed, please please please make it as gradual as possible, so it doesn't distract your audience. 3D is supposed to boost your story, not rule the story.

In this case, the 3D really draws the audience into what goes on on the floor by letting you feel like you have a vision and special insight, giving you a sense of depth that is beyond the physical. It is a brilliant move and idea GOD gave me! I cannot say thank YOU enough for the result and the idea of it. It's so cool!!!! (^^,)

 - Final idea for the fill-in shot of the frogs
Like I mentioned in the video. I got nothing for a final yet. Hahaha. I'm not worried in the least, because HE will not fail me. HE never has and never will. The same thing happened with Aaron's throw. I think it was the same hour I was supposed to sit down and animate it, I received the way he was to throw it and it's still one of my fav scenes. I look forward to the frog shot!

I have received a few ideas so far, but nothing concrete that I have peace about. One is like a shot looking into the sun late afternoon with the frogs jumping around. Another is like the quick tutorial at the end of the video, from above. I don't know about those - GOD wants something better than that... We'll see what HE gives - it's gonna be amazing no matter what! :D

 - Samson: A classic example
PureFlix has advertised a new Samson movie coming out in Feb (on the 16th I believe). In one of the trailer scenes, it talks about the pillars he removed from their place, but we didn't pay it much attention. We looked at the trailer as a whole. When after, I looked at the wikipedia, there was a section about whether he pulled or pushed the pillars out of the way. Without reading it, I said to my mom: "Doesn't the Bible actually say whether he pushed or pulled the pillars?" and she said: "I think it says he pulled them." "Are you sure? You don't seem sure?..." I retorted.

(spinning background with logo)
It actually says:

"And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.
And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life."
Judges 16:29-30, KJV

That certainly sounds like pushing to me (think of how you would move for pulling and for pushing respectively), but we don't have a contemporary example of someone pulling a mansion down to compare notes with. So this would require a lot of research into the possible area and contemporary architecture. It certainly sounds like a house partially set in a hill and that would not only collapse, but slide should these pillars be removed (it emphasizes two forms of support - stood and born up). It also brings into question what GOD allowed to cause his death. If the house was indeed set on a hill, it would probably have knocked him hard enough to cause fatal blunt force trauma (wouldn't have been burial under rubble, because they came and took him up).

I just absolutely love these little details about scripture! GOD is so great in leaving us these little things to go dig for! It's like a treasure hunt into history! (^^,)

Not something to argue about, just fun to research and discuss. I remember a documentary years ago about this and how he probably died and their theory was that one of the supporting beams would've knocked him on the head. It's possible, though I don't recall enough about it to know. I think they also went with pull, but for some reason I also think they covered it both ways - what could've happened with the pulling and what could've happened if he had pushed the pillars. I did go scouring YouTube for it, but found only other doccies on him. This one had very distinct early 90's - or late 80's forensic CG.

As something absolutely hysterical, here is BimBam's adaptation:

Thank you to everyone who reads, comments and watches!
Biggest thanx to GOD for helping me with this. Without HIM, none of this would be possible! :D
